Redemptorist High School Retreat Team Seeks Young Adult Volunteers 2011-2012 Season

Over the past several years, the Redemptorist Youth and Vocation Ministry Program has been pleased to offer High School Retreats for students from the Greater Toronto Area. During the 2010-2011 scholastic year, we welcomed over 300 students to reflect on the Christian call to justice and service through reflecting on prayer, scripture, interactive and informative games and tasks, and basically having a really great time!

This program has as it’s two-fold purpose:

  1. To minister to local high school youth through the facilitation of high school retreats within the Greater Toronto Area.
  2. To invite young adults to grow in faith through prayer and collaboration with the Redemptorist High School Retreat Ministry Team, while developing and utilizing leadership skills and sharing their faith through their participation in the facilitation of High School Retreats.

Looking ahead to 2011-2012!

As we continue to work through this academic year (September 2011 – May 2012), we invite young adults (age 18-25) to consider being a part of our retreat team.

This opportunity is ideal for University and College students looking to develop leadership skills and gain valuable experience in preparation for further studies in education, theology, social work or other professions working with youth.

The Retreat Themes this year may be “Christ be our light – We are called to act with justice”, “Exploring Relationships – God, Myself and Others”, “Building Leadership in the School Setting”. Themes are determined based on the needs of the schools who participate in this year’s retreats. Retreats take place at St. Patrick’s Church, 141 McCaul Street, downtown Toronto.

These retreat take place from Monday – Friday during the day. We do not host retreats in the evening or on weekends.

The commitment involves:

  1. Orientation Days
  2. Commitment to at least 4 retreat days per semester (dates scheduled based on visiting school, and availability of team members)
  3. Availability for team professional development and team building events (occasional)
