What resources would you refer me to (books, magazines, websites, etc.) that would help me to build traditions in my family (two young children under age 8) around feast days, holy days of obligation, learning about the saints, apostles, Jesus, and God, etc? – Marie

Dear Marie,

I would like to recommend to you a book that our family has used for 25 years as a family prayer book. We have also bought it as a Wedding Gift for at least 60 couples, so you can tell we’re really high on it. Its called: “Prayers For the Domestic Church” by Fr. Edward Hayes. It covers almost every aspect of family life…sickness, death, pets, blessings, morning and evening prayer and feast days and solemn celebrations around the family table, as well as prayers on the hearing of a death and even a prayer at the death of a pet. People we have given it to appreciate it very much and they say it comes in handy when people don’t know what to pray.

Hope that is helpful,

aka Deacon Bob
